We beg your Parton, have you read any books today?Ms. Marion’s and Mr. Teaster’s fourth grade students accepted the challenge to read 1,000 books beginning on January 31. Their motivation was to read 1,000 books so Ms. Rutherford could go with them on their fourth-grade field trip to Dollywood. And do they ever love Ms. Rutherford! Not only did they meet their goal, they exceeded it with plenty of time to spare.

Of the 1,000 books read, the average Lexile level was 4.7, which is on grade level, and 15.9% were non-fiction books. The average comprehension score for students was 84% with students being engaged in reading an average of 33 minutes per day, reading an average of 20 books per student!

Ms. Rutherford was overwhelmed with hugs and excitement as students spelled out, “We did it! We read 1,000 books, and you’re going to Dollywood!”

Congratulations to these amazing students who met their goal and are still reading because the LOVE to READ! These READERS are LEADERS!
